I have posted this question immediately after reading the sunday morning newspaper where i saw in the sports page that ”Sachin is Warne’s greatest”. Yes, this has been published in ‘The Times’ in UK i believe. He ranks Brian Lara at 2 & Curtly Ambrose at 3.
Now the reason why i have posted it is to tell some of you which say a lot of bad things about Sachin (like old player, not a big match player, selfish for records) that this is the truth.
This is called respect. Shane Warne perhaps the greatest bowler ever says that the reason he puts Tendulkar at number 1 is his ability to cope with pressure. He said he handles pressure of billions better than anyone else which is the toughest thing in any game.
That’s exactly why not only in Spin King – Warne’s eyes but in my eyes too he ( Sachin) will always remain the greatest batsman after Sir Don of course.
What are your thoughts on that?
Here is the list of Shane Warne’s 10 greatest players-
1) Sachin Tendulkar
2) Brian Lara
3) Curtly Ambrose
4) Alan Border
5) Glenn McGrath
6) Wasim Akram
7) Muralitharna
Ricky Ponting
9) Mark Taylor
10) Ricky Ponting
Intresting thing here- Warne rates Murali below McGrath & Wasim Akram & Ambrose.
Lankan people don’t mind. I am just typing what is there in front of me in the newspaper. No bad feelings here.
Sorry no. 10 is Ian Healy & not Ponting
To Mr.Raja A – Sachin has 50+ man of the match awards & u get a man of the match for contributing in your teams win. Get your stats right. He is one of the biggest match winners ever. Most importantly, he is consistant. If u take a look at his career graph u’ll find that it is an ideal graph which shows consistency. Lara’s graph has a lot of gaps in it followed by huge manhattans. This is inconsistency. No hard feelings.
Exactly why i have posted this question. This was what i wanted to say. That is the difference between you & Shane Warne.
Only a great man himself can understand another great man. What Warny has said about Sachin is all respect. Pure respect. Shane Warne knows what Sachin is all about. not those which say wrong things about him. He is way ahead of other players.

yeah sachin is a great player no dout ..it is also truth sachin is not a match winning player just want to make record i like sachin batting .but …………………..
sachin is the best
Sachin is one of the best batsman in the entire cricket…..his stats prove that………..but he is bit selfish player……compared to Sachin….Inzamam,Jaywardane and Stephen Fleming are not so talented and technically as strong as Sachin but are match winners for their respective sides………Lastly, if Sachin was not a selfish player or could cope up with lots of pressure why did he refused captaincy??????
I agree with u pal . Though he might be holding several records anyone point out one match which we have won just because of his contribution? I can point out Dravid,Yuvraj,Dhoni,Kaif,Ganguly,Kapil, kumble etc who have led us to victory but not sachin da.Lara & Ponting must be at the top
Reading the question and hearing that then I would say yes, but the same could be said of Brain Lara who has to play in a below par team and he too is accountable to a number of countries for there consistent failure.
yes, shane warne, you are right
sachin undoubtedly is gr8 but only when it comes to his records. however, being a match winner is more important which he is not. coz cricket is a team game. if u score a century but ur team loses, the century and the innumerable records are literally USELESS !
If Tendulkar is not a match winner, then why does he have the highest number of MOM awards in his name ? MOM award is given to the top contributer usually from the winning side. Also, 29 of his 41 ODI hundreds have been match-winning, 1 hundred with no result. Any answers ?
he is right
