Bangalore Royal Challengers Beat Mumbai Indians in a Closely Fought Tie

Tags: , , , , , , ,

Bangalore Royal Challengers beat Mumbai Indians in a closely fought tie : The Royal Challengers today registered their first victory beating the Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets in a close finish at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

The Mumbai Indians went in the game without their skipper Sachin Tendulkar, who was unfit, and Harbhajan Singh took charge of the team.

The Mumbai Indians batted first with Sanath Jayasuriya and Luke Ronchi opening the innings. Jayasuriya made a quickfire 29 off 16 balls blasting 5 fours and 1 six. He got himself run out by a brilliant throw from Zaheer Khan, gathering the ball on his follow through and shattering the ‘timber’ on the non striking end.

Another important contribution came from the bat of Robin Uthappa with a personal tally of 48 runs from 38 balls with 5 fours and a six. Shaun Pollock concluded the innings with a firing knock of 28 off just 12 deliveries including 3 fours and 2 sixes.

The Mumbai Indians thus managed to finish with a reasonably competitive total of 165/6 in 20 overs. Zaheer Khan and Balachandra Akhil took 2 wickwets each, while Praveen Kumar took 1 wicket for the Challengers.

In reply to the target set by the Mumbai Indians, the Bangalore Royal Challengers made a decent start with the captain leading from the front, scoring 32 off 33 balls and setting the momentum of the innings.

Each of the batsmen took up the responsibility and contributed their share in a well deserved victory. Ross Taylor and Virat Kohli with 23 runs a piece and Kallis with 25 were the important knocks.

However, it was the innings of Mark Boucher who remained unbeaten with 39 runs from 19 balls (2-six, 4-fours), which saw them home with a close win by 5 wickets.

Mark Boucher was rewarded by the Man of the Match award.

The DLF sixes award was shared between Boucher, Pollock and Taylor (2 sixes a piece)

In the 40th match of 2010 Indian Premier League – IPL3

The 40 match between Bangalore Royal Challengers vs Deccan Chargers Live Streaming will be played on 08 April 2010 at  M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

Pitch Expectation:Bangalore pitch is going to help batsman at the start however would get slow and low as the innings progresses. Team that wins toss is definitely going to bat first.

Stats

DC: Defending Champions would not able to even think of defending their crown if they lost this one. Have to win all their matches from here. With KKR, CSK and RR back in form and they all fighting for the semi final place, it would be tough for them to qualify but they still have a chance unlike the KXIP who are out of the tournament. If they win here then BRC chances to make for the semis will also become difficult. One win could change their fortunes. Gilly would be wishing to happen it in this match.

BRC: Are struggling to keep their good form which they had in the initial stage of the tournament. A loss here would make life tougher for them as now there are 5 contenders for the 3 semi-final slots (MI is already in). CSK, DD, KKR, RR are fighting hard for the place along with BRC and if DC wins here then number will add up to 6. Though the win would not ensure a place in semis but would def made them the strong contender. Too many hard hitters still losing match is something you don’t expect from a strong team like BRC.

Last 5 Winning/ Losing streak
Royal Challengers Bangalore: LWLLW
Deccan Chargers: LLLLL

Players to watch out for

Ross Taylor: BRC lost the last match against the DD just because they wanted to play Ross Taylor for the team, and they made blind changes and which changed the winning combination. Ross would be looking to change this feeling among the experts and fans. Had hit 2 huge sixes against the DD in previous match and if he stays at wicket, then you could expect more than 2 sixes every time.

Rahul Dravid: Has been in and out kind of player when it comes to his batting position. Its an utter disrespect to the legend like him to come to bat after Kohli and co. Should be promoted to no.3 and let him play freely, otherwise just give him the rest. Does Kumble too feel the same thing? It would be quite clear on Thursday night.

Rohit Sharma: He played an astonishing inning against the RR, just lost the match at the very last moment. His style of batting is quite typical of Indian batsmen, class and elegant. Risk free shot and no slogging. He might be the only youngster apart from Raina who has all the proper cricketing shots and probably the only youngster who score runs with those cricketing shots.

Adam Gilchrist: Its now or never for him. If he fails here and so as his team, then it will be bye bye for the Chargers. Lost the close match against the RR but would still hoping to remain in the contenders of the semis. Under pressure, Gilly is one of the best player to come out to play his best. The last chance for Gilly and co.

Battles to watch out for:

Gilchrist vs Steyn
Rohit vs Kumble
Taylor vs Symonds
Uthappa vs Ojha

Squads

DC: AC Gilchrist(c)wk), A Ashish Reddy, Anirudh Singh, AA Bilakhia, HH Gibbs, Harmeet Singh, RJ Harris, VVS Laxman, MR Marsh, MD Mishra, PP Ojha, DB Ravi Teja, KAJ Roach, R Sharma, RG Sharma, RP Singh, DR Smith, TL Suman, B Sumanth, A Symonds, WPUJC Vaas, Y Venugopal Rao, AS Yadav

BRC: A Kumble(c), B Akhil, KP Appanna, MV Boucher†, R Dravid, D du Preez, SP Goswami(wk), JH Kallis, V Kohli, B Kumar, P Kumar, A Mithun, EJG Morgan, MK Pandey, KP Pietersen, SPD Smith, S Sriram, DW Steyn, LRPL Taylor, RV Uthappa, RE van der Merwe, R Vinay Kumar, CL White

The 20th match between Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Daredevils will be played on 25th March 2010 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

Pitch : The pitch is going to be a good batting surface but also has good bounce. It also tends to slow down a bit during the later part of innings. The team which wins the toss would like to bat first on this surface however as for Royal Challengers, they love to chase and would be very happy to do it.

Peculiar Stats:

RCB: Royal Challengers are on a roll. Having won 4 matches out of 5, they have come out to be the strongest sides this IPL season. The batting has come off age, with Jacques Kallis and Manish Pandey in the forms of their lives.

There were inhibitions about the middle order not been able to get enough time to spend at the crease, and that whether they would be able to cope up if Kallis or pandey fail to give them with good opening partnership, however, Robin Utthappa’s innings against CSK have washed off all the apprehensions and the team’s batting looks as solid as ever.

With respect to bowling department, the world class leg spinner Anil Kumble leads the attack with Praveen Kumar, Kallis, Vinay Kumar and Dale Steyn, they have all been in good form contributing to the success of the team.

DD: Delhi Daredevils started off the tournament pretty well. However, since Gautam Gambhir got injured, they have lost the spark being aggravated by out of form batsmen Virender Sehwag, AB Devilliars and Tillakratne Dilshan. The team looks very good on paper however, when the batsman are not in form it becomes difficult to control the game.

Also, Gambhir who used to be the sheet anchor for the team, is unavailable for 1 more match atleast. Either one of the batsma

n will have to fire to take Delhi daredevils to the next level. With no Daniel Vettori in the team, bowling as well has been pretty lethargic with the exception of only Sangwan coming good. Nannes, Mishra have been patchy. All in all, DD has to regroup to play to their potential.

Last 5 matches winning or losing streak:

RCB: W,W,W,W,L
DD: L,L,L,W,W

Players :

Virender Sehwag: Due for a big one. He is a big match player and has to come good fast to take his home team further. Has not been played to his potential but veryone knows, on his day he can just demolish the opposition.

Tillekratne Dilshan: He is an allrounder and Delhi team can struggle without him. An explosive batsman, a tidy bowler ad an excellent fielder, Dilshan is everything a Captain can ask for in the team. Just out of form but it takes a single innings to come back into the form.

Eoin Morgan: Has not had much to do due to the top order performing out of the world. Will be tested against Delhi bowling and remains to be seen how well he performs under pressure after the explosive start to his career.

Rahul Dravid: Nothing much to say about him than the fact that there can not be anyone more committed to the team’s cause than him as even if he is not been able to get chances to perform as a batsman, he has been a part of some brilliant fielding instances, the great catch against Mumbai Indians and the Hayden run out against CSK.

Battles to watch out for:

Dravid vs Nannes
Kallis vs Mishra
Kumble vs Sehwag

Indian Premier League 2010: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Daredevils at Bangalore

Mar 25, 2010 (16:00 local, 10:30 GMT)

Watch Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Daredevils IPL T20 live streaming here. The strongest team in the IPL 2010 so far has been undoubtedly Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The team will meet Delhi Daredevils tomorrow at Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Delhi Daredevils had entered into the tournament as one favorite contender for the championship but fumbled more than a couple of times already.

Struggling with the absence of their captain stand in deputy Dinesh Karthik has a big onus to escape the Royal Challengers threat. The team has been struggling with 3 losses successively, even though a couple of them have been close ones.

Dirk Nannes has been the pick of bowlers for the Daredevils but Amit Mishra has given him good support. Karthik will have to gamble on batting positions and put up big total.

RCB on the other hand, have been ruthlessly chasing whatever be the target and have been on a roll now with Kallis who had been amazingly playing all textbook shots and Uthappa and Manish going that extra mile to entertain the crowds. In bowling Kumble has been outstanding with Praveen supporting him well.

The match favor will most likely go in favor of RCB as they seem to be just unstoppable. Watch Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Daredevils IPL 2010 Live Streaming Online below.
