New Zealand came into this tournament looking at it as a chance to sample subcontintental conditions in the build-up to the World Cup but, in Dambulla, they found a track with plenty of swing and seam, unlike most pitches in Asia. They even went into their first match with a distinctly un-subcontinental bowling line-up, having no frontline spinners. Scott Styris had talked about the ‘lack of respect’ from the opposition and the media ahead of the tournament, but after their 200-run demolition of India, they won’t be taken lightly by Sri Lanka.Watch Srilanka vs New Zealand Live Cricket Streaming Online Broadcast August 13

Sri Lanka are a tough team to beat at home and are the only side in this tournament with something resembling a full-strength squad. They will be using the tri-series to assess their lower middle-order: Thilina Kandamby and Farveez Maharoof have been axed, while Chamara Silva and Thisara Perera have been recalled after solid performances on the A tour of Australia. It will be an important tournament for Ajantha Mendis as well, returning to the squad after being left out of the Asia Cup.Watch Srilanka vs New Zealand Live Cricket Streaming Online Broadcast August 13

For those interested in the ICC one-day rankings, the next week will be an exciting one. With only six points separating five teams, there could be four different teams officially rated as the world’s second best in the next few days. New Zealand parked themselves in the No. 2 spot two days ago, but a loss on Friday will send them sinking to fifth.

Form guide
(most recent first)
Sri Lanka: LWWWW
New Zealand: WWLLL

Watch out for…
Martin Guptill has been a regular with the New Zealand team for more than nineteen months, and in a top order containing newcomers like Peter Ingram and Kane Williamson, the responsibility on him increases. He has also had a bit of a lean run, not making too many runs in the five one-dayers against Australia, and New Zealand will be desperate for him to return to form.

Several members of the New Zealand side have never faced Lasith Malinga and his slingy action, which makes his yorker-and-bouncer mix even more dangerous on Friday.

Team news
Jacob Oram is a doubtful starter due to a hamstring problem, though a final decision on his availability has not been taken yet. BJ Watling is recovering from a stomach bug and, if fit, could be handed a one-day debut.

Stats and trivia

* The team winning the toss has elected to bat in 20 out of 21 day-night matches in Dambulla.

Pitch and conditions
The second match will be played on the same pitch used in the opening game. Seamers dominated on Tuesday, but there was sharp spin on offer as well.

Quotes
“I think the history on this ground in 50-50, the team that wins the toss always bats but the win ratio is about 50%. I’m sure if the team that bowls first tomorrow gets a few early wickets and negate a little period, the middle period might be a little different.”
Ross Taylor does not think the toss is such a big factor in Dambulla

“During the day there was more swing, in the night there was more nibble off the track and I think it’s always the nibble off the track that is more difficult to play.”

In the last test match their performance was several notches better than their normal performance. And that was the reason that they forced Sri Lanka to follow on and then win the series without batting again.

Sri Lanka made a good start as they claimed two quick wickets against India in the second One-Day International, at Nagpur, on Friday.

The last time these two teams met in a tournament final, Sachin Tendulkar produced a match-winning century that saw India win with relative ease. Not many people remember though, that there were other vital contributions too – Yuvraj and Dhoni both scored fifties, while Harbhajan Singh picked up 5/56. For Sri Lanka, Dilshan started off the chase by smashing 42 off 29 balls, while Sri Lanka’s highest score was made by Kandamby who made 66.

Of the protagonists above, only Tendulkar will be absent in this final, while Dilshan has taken his game to the next level from where he was then. The scenario is also a little different now. In September ’09, victory in the finals gave India a brief reign as the top ODI team. Now, India enter the finals as the top Test team.
After a sluggish start to the tournament, the Indian team looks to have gathered some momentum heading into the finals, while the opposite is true for Sri Lanka, who suffered a chastening defeat against India in their last league match when captain Kumar Sangakkara’s decision to bat first and get his bowlers used to the dew back-fired.

Sri Lanka will rely heavily on Dilshan and Sangakkara to come good. Though Mahela Jayawardene is a classy batsman, his ODI stats – an average 32.20 over 316 matches at a strike rate of 77 – are hardly inspiring. Jayawardene is capable of taking the game away from the opposition on his day, but his day seems to come far more often in Test matches than in ODIs. Samaraweera is not yet consistent enough and Kandamby hasn’t had a fifty-plus score in an ODI since September 2009. Tharanga has shaped up well, but he is not yet the finished article – hence the reliance on Dilshan and Sangakkara to come good.

Sri Lanka might make a change in their lineup bringing in the rested Welegedera in place of the off-colour Thushara. Their unsung hero has been Suraj Randiv who has played all four league matches and given away runs at just 4.05 runs per over, while also being among the wickets in a largely batting-friendly tournament. Sangakkara will rely on him to control the flow of runs in the middle overs, but his job will be made easier if the new ball bowlers can pick up a few early wickets.

Teams:

India : Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni(w/c), Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth, Ashish Nehra, Dinesh Karthik, Amit Mishra, Rohit Sharma, Ashok Dinda, Sudeep Tyagi

Sri Lanka : Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Kumar Sangakkara(w/c), Mahela Jayawardene, Thilan Samaraweera, Thilina Kandamby, Suraj Randiv, Muthumudalige Pushpakumara, Nuwan Kulasekara, Thilan Thushara, Chanaka Welegedara, Thissara Perera, Malinga Bandara, Chamara Silva, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Dinesh Chandimal, Mahela Udawatte

India Vs. Srilanka 2Nd Odi – Live Streaming, Live Score And Highlights

India vs. Srilanka 2nd ODI live streaming second one day international is set to being in a few hours time. Both the teams are going in the match after scoring more than four hundred runs each in the first ODI played in Rajkot. The match is going to be held at Nagpur.

Both the teams must be satisfied as they can feel satisfied about the performance of their batsmen. But they will also be concerned about the batting performance of their rivals who are also in great batting form.

The first of the five-match series was played in Rajkot and India had won the thriller by a wafer thin margin. Team India is leading the series 1-0.

The match will be remembered for high score. Both the teams piled up humongous score, but it was India that was lucky enough to pull out a spectacular win.

Once again, swashbuckling Sehwag entertained the audience with sixes and fours. His spectacular innings helped India set a historic target.

It is expected that second ODI will drew huge crowd as Sri Lankans will do their best to trounce India. Though they are without their star bowlers, the team has enough talent to throw a challenge to India.

Also, prepared are Dhoni’s men, whose confidence is high after their win. It would be a treat to watch the match.

Earlier, the match was planned to be held at Visakhapatnam, but was shifted to the orange city because of the agitation in Andhra Pradesh over the proposed bifurcation of Telangana.

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni must be worried about his bowlers performance in the last one day international. No one was able to make any impact on Sri Lankan batsmen.

But he can take some breather from the fact that Sri Lankan bowlers were no better than his own bowlers.

Fielding has been pathetic in some recent matches. The last match was no exception. We have become adept at leaving simple catches and allowing a few more boundaries than necessary.

Dhoni has voiced his disappointment several times, but so far there is no respite from woefully pathetic fielding. The only good thing is India’s batting prowess and hopefully it will help India once again to win the match.

Teams:

India
